*Please read to see if you are a candidate for cosmetic injectables.

Some medications don’t go well with the treatments, i.e. blood thinners, muscle relaxers and some natural supplements.

If you are on antibiotics or recently finished its course, let us know.

Discuss with us your health conditions, illnesses, or prior skin treatments / surgeries.

FAQS ABOUT VASCULAR OCCLUSION

A VO happens when a blood vessel is injected with filler material and normal blood flow to other tissues that are supplied by the affected vessel gets obstructed.

  • Pale/Blanching- Tissue turns white when blood flow is interrupted; often in areas far away from the actual injection.
  • Blue/Grey appearance- Due to build up of deoxygenated blood in the affected tissue.
  • Intense pain- Sometimes VO doesn't come with pain.
  • Cool to touch- When tissues are not being perfused, temperature will drop. This will not be apparent immediately following injection.
  • Pus discharge at or around treatment site.
  • Delayed capillary refill time

Contact your injector.

If your injector confirms a delayed capillary refill, they may ask you to apply a warm heat pack to the area to temporarily increase blood circulation to the affected area.  You may be asked to come into clinic for a proper assessment and if you have a VO, your injector will administer a dissolving agent to bring back the necessary blood supply. An untreated VO will lead to further complications such as necrosis or death of the tissue.

HOW TO TEST FOR VASCULAR OCCLUSION

"How do I test my capillary refill?"

(Please refer to the video)

To test capillary refill time, apply firm pressure for 5 seconds onto the area being assessed, and then release.

The skin should return to its normal colour in 2 seconds or less.
