Frequently Asked Questions

The Russian lip technique focuses on creating height and accentuating the cupid's bow, but with minimal projection outward, giving it a flatter side profile.

Russian Lips may not be achievable on some patients depending on patient's lip anatomy.

Best results are achieved when there is very minimal to zero existing filler in the lips.

Russian lips can not be performed when there is filler migration, as the migration will be made more visible when the Russian technique is used.

The end result and shape will still be dependent on your lip shape before the procedure.

Yes.

With the filler brand used at Facelift Clinic, you can expect the filler to start getting hard and lumpy from around day 3 to 5. Once the filler settles and integrates with the skin, it should feel soft like your own lips.

Here are some of our client's lip filler journey.

Yes.

If you are getting lip fillers at Facelift Clinic, we recommend you massage the hard areas and lumps from day 3 onwards to speed up the lumpy phase of the healing process.

Aim to massage away all the filler hardness and lumps by week 2 to 3. The longer you leave the lumps, the harder it is to massage away.

More instructions will be given to you in clinic after treatment.

Minimal downtime.

You can resume work and normal activities after the procedure.

However, there are certain activities you should avoid to help reduce the side effects of the treatment.

Please see “after care tips” to ensure best results and faster healing.

It takes 2 weeks for the lip filler to start to settle, and up to 4 weeks for it to fully settle.

Here are some of our client's lip filler journey.

Due to Australia’s strict TGA laws, we are not permitted to mention brand names or ingredients of prescription medications.

Due to Australia’s strict TGA laws, we are not permitted to mention brand names so we label them as Standard and Premium, with Premium brand being more expensive due to the cost of the product.

Every clinic has their own choice of brand behind their "Standard" / "Premium" label.

One clinic's "Premium" can be another clinic's "Standard" brand and vice versa.

At Facelift Clinic, the Premium brand is the newest lip filler to hit the market. With its unique technology, it allows for more natural results, more lip movement and elasticity, and is said to have less swelling and a faster downtime than other lip fillers out there.

According to some of our clients who have tried both our lip filler brands at Facelift Clinic have given feedback that our Standard brand is just as good as our Premium brand.

Both brands contain the same ingredient and naturally dissolve over 6-12 months before a top up is needed.

So which lip filler brand should you go for?

It is up to personal preference. How a person's lip respond to the filler will vary between individuals.

Our fillers are temporary and will naturally dissolve in the body over time.

Dermal filler companies estimate their lip filler products to last about 6 to 12 months before a top up is needed. In some cases, lip fillers can remain in the lips for many years.

If you would like to remove all existing filler in the lips, a dissolver enzyme can be administered to the site.

The cost of the treatment depends on the type of filler used.

For Russian Lip technique, 1ml is required in most occasions.

For latest treatment cost, please see the pricelist from the booking system or come in for a consult.

HOW LONG AFTER LIP FILLER CAN I....

At least 24 hours.
Smoking can increase the risk of infection on the tiny open wounds caused by the needle, and the pursing action of your lips may affect the shape of your lip filler.

24 - 48 hours.
Strenuous exercise after you get lip or any other dermal fillers will elevate your blood pressure and make swelling and or bruising worse.

Immediately.
It is important to hydrate yourself with plenty of oral fluids, preferably plain water as your lips may peel from the stretch caused by the swelling. Try to avoid hot beverages or overly hot food as exposure to heat will cause more swelling.

At least 24 hours.
You can apply makeup the next day, but we would suggest the use of a moisturising lip balm instead of lip stick as the hydration will be more beneficial for the healing process.

At least 1 month.
It takes about 4 weeks for the filler to fully settle and integrate into the skin.Any hard lumps should have been massaged away before your next lip filler top up.

At least 48 - 72 hours.
It is best to avoid taking anti-inflammatory medication such as Aspirin (unless medically necessary), Ibuprofen, Celecoxib, Fish oil, Ginko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, high doses of vitamin E, etc

At least 24 - 48 hours.
Alcohol can act as a blood thinner and can increase your chances of bruising, bleeding and swelling.

24 hours - 72 hours.

It would be safer to wait until 24 hours for the injection sites to close to reduce the risk of infection. Forceful pressure in the first 72 hours after lip filler can increase the risk of bruising, swelling and movement/deformity of the lip filler.
